New Kids on the Block

The city of Sharn is a disconcerting place with its cold metal towers devoid of artistry. Nature and relative solitude can only be found at the highest levels of the city…lower levels are filled with constant movement and commotion. This many souls in one place does not seem sustainable, and yet it persists.

We discovered the remains of an ancient underground city of goblin make beneath Sharn. It seems after the goblins were forcibly removed many years ago, the “Cogs” now function as a refuge for those of criminal intent.

A petty band of miscreants, the Borrowmar Clan, tried to kill us over a dispute on seating arrangements at the best cafe in the city, Luigi’s. I suggested relieving them of their life force to save them the further pain of living, but the other Keepers seemed insistent on leaving them alive. They chose to restrain and humiliate the brutes – an inelegant solution that will surely prolong their suffering.

As it turns out, they were also responsible for kidnapping the most adorable dog that we had found in an alley. We found out about that when a private eye hired to return the poor thing to her owner, Carly Rae d’Jepson. The pup, Lilith: Destroyer of Worlds, will be missed by me.

Longing for a companion in this strange city, and with Lilith on her way to her true owner, we stopped by a rescue: the Cat’s Meow. It seems people must pay to take care of unwanted animals here, a curiosity. After signing some documents releasing the proprietor of liability, I walked away with a small creature that none of us had encountered prior. It resembles a ball of meat the size of a fist, with stubby legs, large eyes, and a single tooth. I’ve named it Endless. A strange companion in strange times.
