Days of Mourning Part 2

Imprisoned and exhausted, Belladonna and Hollywood are forced into combat sport to entertain the warforged lord. He enjoys it enough to offer us a mission in exchange for freedom, he sends us into the glowing chasm with bomb collars that he holds the detonator to. Given no choice we accept his terms and set out into the chasm. The climbing is perilous and we almost lose a couple of the group in the cliffs, dodging around mysterious creatures that attack when you’re not looking.

Deeper into the chasm we find the source of the sickly green glow, an upside down tower under some kind of spell reversing its gravity, “House Cannith Labs.” Inside we find the place filled with floating office equipment and paperwork. Three floors were of particular interest to us. There was a daycare splattered with blood and mutated horrors guarding it, the research laboratories, where we found all kinds of research notes and fascinating prototype weaponry. I found a powerful railgun that I will certainly be using as my primary weapon going forward.

Yet all of this was an appetizer for what was the true purpose behind this facility, known in the documents as Project Montauk, which was the source of the Mourning phenomenon. It was contained behind massive blast doors we had to slip through vents in order to bypass. Once inside we see two massive pyramids and a powerful singularity between them, the points of each pyramids meeting at this portal to the plane of chaos. They seek to harness this plane, Zoriat both as an energy source and as a weapon. The chief scientist emerges from the darkness to rave at us about his victory and we smash him into paste. We collect as much of his notes as we can and try to seal the vents as much as we can. Back to the surface we hike.

The Lord of Blades interrogates Bella and learns most of what we did down there though we stashed the notes inside Xstopher’s beehive, Belladonna loses a hand for trying to protect this information. We prepare a presentation for the Accord Keepers general council such that Cannith isn’t able to cover their tracks and we hold onto the notes to share with some of our more intellectual accord keepers hoping they can find some sort of countermeasure to stop the Mourning from happening again.
