Days of Mourning Part 1
The Accord Keepers called for the bravest for what was supposed to be a suicide mission into the Mournlands. I volunteered, the looming specter of the Mournlands brushed the edge of my homelands and its slow expansion into the plains where I grew up worried me. We receive a last supper of cafeteria lobster and get airdropped right outside the fog wall, the vastness of it gave me pause. We tie ourselves together with ropes and march into the fog, haunted by mischievous ghosts of the fallen. A child ghost tries to misdirect us but we make it through the fog and into the Mournlands itself.
Once inside we start making our way toward our objective, the Glowing Chasm, theorized to be some kind of central location that the Mourning phenomenon emanates from. The direct path seemed to be the best through the perilous, shifting terrain but this ends up biting us for we walk into what appears to be a battlefield frozen in time, with two armies mid clash. Tiptoeing through as swiftly as we could, the battle starts up again out of nowhere and we are forced to dodge both armies and make it through to the other side. The battle freezes not long after it reignited. Our group almost gets taken out by a living fireball spell that held the form of a firefly, but we hobble our way to shelter, a Hollywood video store.
The store proved to be another temporal trap, unable to escape we relive the events of the final day before the Mourning repeatedly until we are able to give the unquiet ghosts the best final day we could. We switched out video tapes, hid evidence of infidelity, and smoothed employee relations before the video store let us leave. Pushing onward after well earned resting, we find inverted rainstorms filled with acid and are forced to take shelter while a massive invisible creature lopes by us, quick thinking and an illusion save us from a another potentially deadly encounter. Our next stop is at a ruined temple where we find some nice weaponry and armor in the basement, this drill lance could prove useful in the future. The quiet part of our journey ends as we are captured by the massive warforged city of Construct and are brought before a warlord known as the Lord of Blades.
