Mission: House Keeping (C1S2)

Objectives: Overseer Tanarion d’Tharashk has asked us to determine information about: the attackers from the train escort, who in House Tharask is associating with the Dragon Below Cult, and ‘The Closed Circle’ 

Outcome: We set out for Morgrave University to meet with Professor Alston Sonorio to find out more about the legend of the three dragons Siberys, Khyber, and Eberron, but specifically about the cult of the Dragon Below (Khyber). On our way we were intercepted by four Aashta hunters, at least three of them showing signs of mutations steaming from their dragon marks. I, using my changeling ability to pose as one of the dead cult members recovered from the train mission, attempted to persuade them to turn around as they were doing a poor job of being unnoticed. There could not be convinced however and battle ensued. 

We were able to dispatch two and subdue/capture one; however, the fourth (a magic user) fled. We question our captive and learned that they were workign for the Ashta, looking for the “Kanith trader”. He claims that the cult of the dragon below had nothing no involvement with what happened in the mournland. Upon examination of his mutated arm, we concluded that the mutation could possibly be due to a dragon shard due to the mutation steaming from his dragon mark, and due to the dragon scale like appearance. Lloyde decided it would be test to chop off the arm so that it could be further studies. We then proceed to dump our captive (and the other corpses) down the ‘thrash shoot’

Upon entering the University, we discovered that Professor Alston is not around, and has not been seen in several days and are told he is ‘on vacation’. We gained access to his office in the Department of Erratic History to find it trashed and while no scorch marks, does appear to have arcane scars within the office. We are able to find a small journal written in an amalgamation of various languages. After some collaboration, we are able to decipher some of the notes about a city beneath city, glass tower, the resurgence of the closed circle, and some library shelf references. 

While searching the library shelves referenced, we run into Dannel ir’Tavish – Noble, Philantropist, Morgrave University donor, colleague and friend of Alstan. We find out that Alston has been acquiring forbidden tomes (about certain histories that the University would prefer the general public be ignorant on) from the Bodamar clan. We discovered the bookselves referenced empty and decided to re-search Alstan’s office. After researching his room, finding and subduing a treasure chest mimic (that BoomBoom tied up and took as a pet), we proceeded to the bathrooms to see if anyone decided to dispose of the books in the sewer. 

After entering the sewers, we meet Ib-halla – Imp-like intelligent creature living in Sharn’s sewers underneath Morgrave University and were able to locate three books of potential interest: Secrets of the Lower Cogs, A Brief History of the Closed Circle, Who Is the Dragon Below: An Undercover Investigation. Ib-halla says he may know the location of Alston and the location of the cult of the dragon below. He is willing to share his information if we share the secrets/information that we are trying to…persuade the VIP to share.
