Are you Melting? Into Nothing?
Keepers : Jinnis, Sasha, Tilly, Traceur, N-D311, Henly
Captain : Cypress
Objective : Attend the meeting of the guilds and build connections with people that might be beneficial to our cause. Also watch out for any traces of Nadai in the city.
Outcome : We got side tracked and caught wind of a suspicious death that happened at a house for recovering addicts. The house has a history of odd deaths before the current residents, leading people to believe it’s haunted. And with this death being ruled a suicide despite the clear slash in the throat and defensive wounds, there is reason to believe that some sort of coverup has happened. Especially when detect poison and disease revealed that the cleaned up blood-spatter was poisoned.
The sinkhole in front of the house was caused by chambers underneath the house. The chambers have chemical-synthesizing equipment that we found suspicious at first, but after a further look seemed to be an attempt to reverse engineer the Jerasco smelling-salts. We stake the place out in hopes we can get more information from whoever unsuspecting person walks in next.
We ask them who they work for. They say House Ghalanda, but they don’t represent the house, are working on their own, and trying to stop Jerasco’s monopoly on the cure. To them, the spread of the drug has a huge potential to profit Jerasco since the war money has dried up. We ask them about Nadai, and they say it’s originally a beast stimulant, but has a depressive effect on humanoids. Doesn’t seem to know anything else. Finally, we asked about the suspicious death, and they us about the poison charms originally set up in the house and the change in mental state soon before the death.
Carbon monoxide poisoning. In the end, it was carbon monoxide poisoning. The original owner and builder of the house wanted to expose himself to poison, believing that it will make him resistant to it. After his passing, the sellers of the house believed they got rid of all the poison contraptions in the house, not realizing that 24/7 CO-dispensers were embedded in their walls. The walls released the carbon monoxide that caused the victim’s murderous alien hand syndrome.
Ultimately, we didn’t find anything new about the source of Nadai. The removed carbon monoxide crystals have been removed from the premises and handed over to Cypress. (I could have made something cool with it though.) Rest in peace, Kelly. Your life was ended tragically short through one man’s arrogance and continual negligence. Steps have been taken to assure this won’t be happening to anyone else again.
