Vengeance is Mine, Saith the Host

Keepers: T’ggar, Toryn, Tilly, U3-N.R, Asher, Bella
Objectives: Travel to Fort Zombie to investigate the expansion of the Mournland.
Outcome: We found a pylon of House Cannith design that appeared to be shaping the border of the Mournland, and it has been tampered with to allow unfettered expansion. We were able to fix the pylon so it functioned properly, but were warned by those guarding it that “the Glowing Chasm will have its revenge.”

When we arrived at Fort Zombie, the mist wall of the Mournland was merely dozens of yards away, and getting closer by the day. As we delved into the mists, they almost seemed to part to lead us to the pylon. It felt like a bad omen.

The pylon appears to be largely, but not entirely, of House Cannith make. Like the others we know about, it sits atop a gatekeeper sigil. These seem to set the boundary of the Mournland.

The Mournland…was planned. Of course, we know it was Xoriat experiments that caused the destruction, but it always seemed so convenient that Mournland so conveniently stopped at the borders of Cyre, did it not? It seems more and more that my people were specifically targeted for unholy and obscene soul-harvesting experiments.

Mamá… Papá… Nicolette… Donna… did any of you make it to Dolurrh? To rejoin the Host? Did they ever find peace? Or are their souls still lost in the mist, being tortured and abused for evil intent?

Life was much simpler when the Mourning was just another regular disaster of war. You grieved and you moved on, and that was it. The more I uncover about the true horrors behind it, the more my heart re-shatters, over and over again. Boldrei cannot comfort me, and I feel Aureon cannot fully guide me when his order is regularly defiled by these dark shadows seeking to sew chaos. It is only by the light of Dol Arrah that I persist, as I have nothing left to live for than to right the wrongs of war and free whatever trapped souls I can while I still draw breath on Eberron.

The pylon we encountered had been disabled, allowing the borders to expand. Someone or something wants the Mournland to expand. We were met with resistance, and as we dispatched it we were warned “The glowing chasm will have its revenge.”

I’ve been to the glowing chasm. I’ve survived and returned with a rage deeper than any arcane rift the Mournland has to offer. I’m not worried about whatever revenge it seeks. I have my own revenge to wreak.
