Mission: Keeping Tabs (C3S2)

Objectives: Alright Keepers, it’s time to get back to work. We’ve got a report from one of House Medani’s subsidiary groups that the dead gray mists of the Mournland are slowly encroaching on Thrane’s borders.

The group, known as the Thousand Yard Stare, is a small sect of the Mark of Detection’s House that watches the Mournland, providing any advanced warning should anything cross over the border. The last thing they expected is the border itself to start moving.

We’ll need to regroup with them to get as much intel into why this is happening and how we can stop it. Who knows what kind of chain reaction that Whitehearth disaster caused in the Mournland.

Outcome:

The Keepers pushed into the advancing Mournland mists after scouts vanished. Using rope lines to track their way, the company crossed by raft, fending off tentacles from the fog-choked waters. Madness struck early—Sasha lost coherence, and Dayla succumbed briefly to delirium.

Inside, the landscape twisted in circles. Predatory shapes stalked the party until driven off by mimicry. Soon after, the group uncovered a broken Gatekeeper seal and, beyond it, a glowing dragonshard pylon guarded by two warped soldiers and a robed, tentacled caster.

The caster resisted psychic attacks but fell to a crushing smite and blade. His death unleashed a massive tentacled aberration—identified as “Hub 24D.” When slain, it cried out for reinforcements, confirming the existence of a network of such pylons across the Mournland.

The corrupted soldiers briefly regained lucidity before collapsing again. One survivor, barely restored, spoke only in fragments—his mind seemingly destroyed. The caster’s head was taken for later interrogation.

The mission confirms the Mournland is not only spreading, but building a lattice of “hubs”—a coordinated threat that may soon reach beyond its borders.
