Carry Hell to Your Doorsteps

We are making full use of the tickets we won from the tournament. On the way to the Crags, and within the Crags itself, there are various ruins of ancient civilizations. And the residents fear us enough to get the guards’ attention. We are luckily allowed in without much of a fuss, though the gate guard mumbled something about needing more writing classes from the man behind the curtain.

It was lively once we got in the walls, but more importantly, we managed to find this “Man behind the curtain”. He has done work for Mordain the Fleshweaver and regularly converses with the Hags, mostly Sora Katra. By no means would I call him an innocent man – he has certainly done the bidding of Mordain and done so willingly – but he definitely seems redeemable. His memory has been manipulated repeatedly. Each time he finishes a job, Mordain wipes his memories of the job. He works for Mordain to keep up his end of the bargain, but has no recollection of what he was promised beside that it was important. He doesn’t so much as remember his own name. We have temporarily given him the name “Trapper” and he has accepted the name, but that name may very well be erased when he finishes his next work.

Despite his connection to Mordain and the hags, he was willing to speak to us and hear us out. The information he was able to give was limited due to his memories being erased, but he did willingly give us his notebook, spools of silver thread, and some upgrades to our equipment. It is my hope that with the notebook and the thread, I could eventually learn how to safely undo Mordain’s work. If we could figure out how to undo Mordain’s tracking and figure out what the stitch work behind Trapper’s ears do, we can potentially gain a powerful ally with inside knowledge.

Oh, but we didn’t interact with the hags.
