Mistmarshes and the Foggy Boggy

DM: Mako

Keepers: @Sollyn, @Tinkersdam, @Gregorius Redmagic, @N-D311, @Sasha @Tommy

Objective: Travel to the hamlet Mistmarsh and find missing children.

Outcome: Children recovered.

Details: In the poor hamlet of Mistmarsh, teen boys go into the marsh to collect magical acorns which they sell to supplement their families income. Children from the Entt and Jackel families went missing; those who returned had memory gaps and were reluctant to talk about what happened. Healing magic such as lessor restoration does not help. Sheriff/Mayor Alben mentioned a former leader who banned acorn gathering but was later deposed; the townspeople burn an effigy annually to celebrate his downfall. N-D311 examines a tree that has silver veins and concludes that it one held a dryad. They people genuinely respectful of nature. From the children we get clues about where the children may have gone.

The keepers follow these clues. They come across a pair of mountain lions. N-D311 speaks to them, one is injured and they are eating contaminated deer. N-D311 heals them using good berries, advises them to not eat the dear. The mountain lions tells that other who are like N-D311 (one with nature) live near some ruins and the children might be near the lake. They don’t go near the lake.

We come across the ruins where we find that the walls near the ground have been cleaned and we find multiple pairs of white slippers. Near the ruins we find an archway of tree with enchanted slips of paper. They slips of paper are illusion magic that hide that archway is held open using enchanted skeletal limbs. In the distance, there are wolves.

We get to the lake and discover that something under the lake attacks anything that tries to cross it, but wearing the slippers allow us to cross. We cross the lake and find the missing children who have been cocooned in mud. N-D311 calls out to the wolves and asks to parlay. The wolves arrive, then shift into human form. Hakkan, the wolf druid leader, explains that something moved into the lake and enhanced/disturbed the natural entity that lived their. This happened shortly after the day of mourning. They also explained that the children have taken too much. We agree to help them fight the thing in the lake if they will release the children. The children are released and we take them back to Mistmarsh.

We return to the lake and fight a corrupted naiad and several swarms of mutant Cicadas. The wolf druids agree to assist Mistmarsh so that they don’t take too much from the forest in the future. Two of the keepers are gifted with acorns that will eventually grow and produce enchanted items.
