Mission: Investigate missing juveniles in Mistmarch

Outcome: When we arrived at the small hamlet of Mistmarch, we spoke with the local sheriff in regard to a number of missing teens. This poor town is known to supplement its wealth by harvesting magical acorns that can be found in the forest nearby, but lately, many of the harvesters hadn’t been returning.

One of the first things we noticed was a certain tree, which had apparently been a dryad’s home at one point. I had heard stories of fairy creatures that could be corrupted and turned evil, and my immediate speculation was that something might have happened to the dryad… but at this point, it was a mere hunch, with no supporting evidence to speak of.

We decided to take the route that the youths had taken to a nearby lake. N-D311 proved invaluable in this particular mission, as his familiarity with the forest, along with his ability to speak with animals, allowed us to avoid coming into conflict with the local wildlife, as well as the wild shaped druids that lived in a town by the lakeshore.

Speaking of these druids, it turned out that they were the ones preventing the youths from returning, but not in a malicious way… they had simply detained them for their own protection. Because the corrupted dryad was now living in the lake, and after negotiating with the druids a bit, I was able to arrange for the safe return of the youths in exchange for dealing with their corrupted dryad. Once the creature was put out of its misery, the youths returned to the village, and Mistmarch began negotiations with the druids in arranging a mutually beneficial relationship in the future. Mission Successful.
