Cyprus gathered out team to send us to travel to the Demon Wastes and stop a ritual to open a gate and find a stolen sending stone. They didn’t come with us but sent their bodyguard, Izzara to at least get us part of the way. There are also rumors that the Clsed Circle May be involved.

We were met at Maruk Dor by a couple orcs who Izzara introduced us to. The led us to a cave and told us some people had come through a couple days ago with a small caravan that appeared to be holding something alive.

We navigated some pillars rising from a deep pit by jumping one to the next, then entered a lava area with two strange creatures we managed to avoid. Next through a lava tube to a cave with a pond. We continued to move through a number of rooms, finding runes that circled the outer edge of each room. Sasha was able to read the runes and we recovered a whistle in each of three rooms. One of the rooms had a blinded, deafened snake which I was able to partially heal so it could see.

We learned about Mordaine, the Flesh Weaver, a magician who was kicked out of the closed Circle about 400 years ago.

Finally we came to a city in a huge cavern. The city was covered in nearly solid ash. Walking through the city we came to a gate surrounded by three towers. There was a wizard on each tower and two guards at the base of the towers. We fought them and the wizards used the guards’ life force to revive themselves when they were killed. Eventually the people holding the whistles remembered they had them, blew them and stopped the wizards. The gate had not been permanently opened.
