Field Report for House Thuranni – Starring Hollywood

This is a field report for House Thuranni, forwarded to all Accord Keepers in fulfillment of my contract and the Treaty of Thronehold. This report is the culmination of FOUR weeks of investigation.

The past month has been spent following leads on who has been troubling the efforts of the accord keepers, and why. Given that much of their aim has been to implicate our noble household as responsible for these attacks, it is in our great interest to clear that name and put the sword to those who would defame us. In this effort, I humbly request that House Thuranni invest resources and manpower into cooperation with the keepers.

First, my investigation simply took me to the underbelly of Sharn, where a (now disavowed) leader of House Tharashk was preaching to a crowd the benefits of shattering some of the many seals that hold Xoriat in check. Zaehir, of the Ashata Clan, was captured, interrogated, and sent directly to House Tharashk for incarceration. It was found that he was collaborating with Archivist Taelous Vaun and Aric D’Cannith, along with a third conspirator who we were unable to uncover. I deeply implore that all Accord Keepers reading this treat this figures with suspicion. In this same expedition, I was forced to work with a member oh House Pharlaine – and to my surprise the collaborative efforts proved fruitful. While I cannot mend the rift in oir households, I am happy to see the terms of The Accord can allow us to cooperate.

My next sojourn took me to the Shadow Marches, to investigate the disappearance of several Kalashtar, but I also saw this as an opportunity to get a lay of the land and confirm the suspicons aroused in the previous mission. My abilities as an infiltrator proved successful, and I was indeed able to confirm that these Kalashtar had been abducted in relation to an attempt to open another seal. I received aid from another Shadowmarked Elf, this one from the Isles of our ancient homeland in this attempt. I found her methods brutish and morbid at times, given that she appears to be in league with The Undying Court branches of both the Cairdal Blades and the Death Guard. And yet, I still found her surprisingly compassionate for one so steeped in death. Between her, myself, and the agent from House Pharlaine, the Mark of Shadow’s birthright seems to be one of mutual aid. This bond should be explored further by our household. Thankfully, through her help and the others in our party, w ewere able to stop another seal from being broken.

My most harrowing journey of all, however, took me into The Mournlands, and kept me there for quite some time. Our mission was as direct as it was terrifying: discover the cause of the Day of Mourning. Having seen Cyre at its prime, entering this wasteland was an emotional experience. This nostalgia was swiftly swept away by the immediate horrors found within the swirling fog. After encounters with living spells, frozen legions of soldiers, and a video rental store filled to the brim with my own films… we were captured by The Lord of Blades, a warforged who has upgraded himself to the status of Warlord. He is hellbent on the Mournlands being recognized as his own nation, and one where Warforged are to be held as esteemed citizens above all others.

We were able to negotiate our release, out of the mutual interest that he held in discovering what destroyed Cyre. We descended into a region known as the Glowing Gorge, which held a laboratory for House Cannith in its heart. This Laboratory held several treasures, but was structured around something called Project Montauk. Project Montauk is a creation of a tiny, yet stable, portal into the realm of Xoriat. Though only roughly the size of an orange, great evil emanates from this rupture, and was enough to corrupt the soul of the scientist in charge. He had been transformed into a hideous abomination – one which nearly killed me before my allies were able to strike it down. We did our best to seal off the laboratory so that it could not be easily accessed, but were unable to close the portal itself.

As we emerged, the Lord of Blades managed to recapture us. He interrogated Belladonna Tanglefoot under extreme duress and torture. He removed her hand when she attempted to resist sharing knowledge of the portal, but to very little avail. It would seem that the Lord of Blades seeks to claim this power for his own nefarious needs.

My conclusion in all of this is simple: House Cannith appears to be involved, either wilfully or not, with exploiting the power of Xoriat in a grab to establish Hegemony over Khorvaire. The seals being broken across the realms are intertwined with the same power that destroyed Cyre, and I fear that further disruption could result in a similar event. All of Khorvaire is in danger, and the Lord of Blades is positioned to destabilize this volatile situation even further. While we have been successful in stopping seals from being broken, I suggest an immediate strike force be sent into The Mournlands to intercept the Lord of Blades and close the portal. The Gate Keepers will also require reinforcements, but their presence will act as a decent barrier in the short term while the greater evil is dealt with.

House Thuranni would do well to repair our image with the accord keepers and with the other households by directly assisting with these efforts, either by sending an auxillery strike force to assist in the mournlands or to assist the Gate Keepers with their missions.

Yours in Fame and Service,

Ereg’Eryn d’Thuranni of Newthrone
