Crimson Covenant Conspiracy
Saoirse sent us into Korth tracking down information regarding the religion known as the Blood of Vol, a group descended from the extinct house of Vol. They call themselves Seekers of the Divinity Within and they seem to have interest in expanding an extraplanar boundary of Mablar, allowing undeads and fiends to control more territory on the continent. We arrive in Korth to meet up with a contact, Jessa who fills us in on the details and urges us to keep a low profile. She tells us that a Lich or powerful necromancer calls the shots at the top of the Blood of Vol and we need to find out who is in charge, what their plans are, and any other VIPs who might be involved in the cult.
Next we set out for the lower city and bumble around under the pressure of suspicious stares, but eventually we find a chapel dedicated to the blood of Vol where we find a cultist and convince them we are aspiring to become Seeker of the Divinity Within, the tell us about an upcoming ritual where they shall all drip blood into a massive goblet and drink from it, with some experiencing strong visions of the divine. We are supposed to find dark robed guards with jewelry symbolizing the Blood of Vol and say some special password to enter the ritual. Next we take their recommendation to check out an inn where other cultists might be staying.
We arrive and set ourselves up with some rooms and start chatting up with some cultists in the tavern. The name of the leader of this cult is revealed, Illmarrow, the Queen of Death. Additionally, the leader of the Eastern branch of House Cannith is attempting to buy his way into the leadership of this cult, known as the Crimson Covenant. They seem to rebuff his advances but his involvement with such a dangerous organization raises alarm. We inform Jessa about what we learned and follow Ratha into the Nightwood looking for more information about her patron, apparently they have followers in House Orien, it seems many nefarious actors have infiltrated the great houses…
