Mission: Investigate Emerald Claw ties to the Blood of Vol

Outcome: We were dispatched to Karrnath in order to investigate the Blood of Vol at the request of their military. Although this was an undercover mission in a human city, none of us were human, so we were already off to a great start. To top it off, I was really feeling off my game, as my initial attempts at diplomacy were botched by my absolute disgust for the cannibalistic blood consumption rite these cultists were planning to perform in the Necropolis of Karth.

Still, in spite of these initial setbacks, Ratha and Sollyn were able to successfully befriend the cultists, and we attended a meeting and gathered some useful information without having to resort to violence and bloodshed. It turns out that Zorlan d’Cannith is a mere low-ranking member of the Blood of Vol, a far cry from the Emerald Claw member that he wishes to become. But the Blood of Vol does indeed have ties to the Emerald Claw, which is exactly as Saoirse suspected.

Although I didn’t think it was a good idea, we went to investigate Nightwood Park, largely because Ratha wanted answers to some personal questions. In the park, we encountered a man on the park who, according to my Divine Sense, was definitely a fiend. Judging from the pipe he was smoking…. my guess is that he was a Rakshasa. I think… I think I met a Rakshasa, and didn’t die.

On a personal note, I hope Ratha does not listen to the words of the Rakshasa, and that she uses her newfound power only for good purposes. Regardless of the source of one’s power, it is up to the individual to decide how to use it, according to one’s own moral compass.
