THE SIEGE OF THE OBSERVER

KORRANBERG – Upon forcibly dealing with the madness that Editor-in-Chief Alberto Tommasi had wrought by including psychically resonant text in the Observer, it rapidly came to the attention of the Keepers on site that a mob of insane residents of Korranberg was on its way to lay siege to the Observer.

In preparation, the brass Khorvaire globe in the courtyard was removed and pressed into service as a barricade for the glass doors of the offices.  Other improvised barriers were made from the desks and cubicles formerly occupied by reporters and editors.

When the siege began, the Keepers had to deal with the fact that any victims of the memetic spell dissolved into nothingness when attacked.  Understanding that these were unwitting victims, the Keepers attempted to use nonlethal methods as best they could, though there were regrettable casualties in the process.

After holding off the mob, the true enemy behind these events was revealed – the fallen Gatekeeper Draal Dhur.  As some of the few remaining Gatekeepers attempted to seal him and his shadowy dragon mount, the Keepers were summoned via teleportation magic to do battle.  The Keepers (Accord and Gate-) ultimately prevailed, but not without cost.

Cinque, warforged barbarian, a being of few words (most of them profanity), fell in battle, doing what she had done best in her months with the Accord Keepers – rush headlong into battle and fearlessly put herself at the sharpest point of the fray.  The dragon’s breath sucked away her very life force, and only due to the closing of the Gatekeeper seal was her spirit not forced to fight her fellow Keepers as a shadowy remnant.  May she rest with the fallen squad she held so dear in her memory.
