ALL THE NEWS THAT’S-
KORRANBERG – Regretfully, it has come to the attention of the Accord Keepers that the management of the Korranberg Observer (namely Editor-in-Chief Alberto Tommasi) has become compromised by a group working to unleash the horrors of the Far Realm Xoriat on Eberron. As part of this effort, strange messages were inserted into issues of the Observer dated 3, 10, and 14 Therendor, 999YK.
The results of this text, when read aloud, had the effect of damaging those who heard the reading, and rendering them highly psychically suggestible.
Given a small amount of advance notice, the Keepers commandeered the train from Sharn to Korranberg, unfortunately displacing passengers by decoupling all other cars to make additional haste in their journey. Knowing that a group called the Restful Watch had advised their agents to ‘spread the word’ as part of something codenamed Operation: Saturation, it was understood that the entirety of Khorvaire would potentially fall victim to the memetic encodings in the paper.
Upon arrival in Korranberg, the streets were already filled with chaos and violence from those who had already read the fateful words on the front page. When they reached the paper’s headquarters, they were attacked by personnel who had clearly been corrupted, hovering in midair and murmuring the maddening message. The Keepers defended themselves as the editors attacked, only to see them fade away into dust when neutralized.
Climbing the stairs to the mailroom where the Observer is distributed far and wide, the Keepers confronted Alberto Tommassi. Even more taken by the insanity, the editor-in-chief’s words themselves caused damage, but the Keepers were able to ultimately prevail and stop the presses from causing further turmoil.
The Observer is now under the supervision and investigation of the Accord Keepers until a full investigation can be conducted.
