An unassuming inn visit took a chilling turn for a group of adventurers when a late-night melody triggered a centuries-old magical affliction in the depths of a mysterious library known as the “Firefly Cellar.” What began as a routine delivery of books turned into a harrowing encounter with an ancient curse—and an entity born from a haunted lullaby.
The group was first led to the Firefly Cellar, a massive archive beneath the inn, where they met the scribe Varnyr. Assigned a temporary task of assisting with book deliveries, the team spent the night in the cellar—only to wake up humming an eerie tune none could remember learning.
The haunting melody intensified by morning, prompting Varnyr to lock down the cellar. He revealed a forgotten legend of “song madness,” an ailment last seen 600 years prior. As frost crept through the stone floors and fellow resident Ebder was found freezing and delirious, the adventurers sprang into action.
Their investigation uncovered chilling clues: a cursed nursery rhyme, a possessed child clutching a mechanical pop-up book, and a hidden chamber housing two skeletons—one silently singing. A scrap of paper confirmed the lyrics were more than coincidence; they were the cause of the madness.
Upon completing the full rhyme in the pop-up book, a shadowy force burst forth, echoing the tale’s grim conclusion. In a dramatic battle, the party overcame the entity, crushing it beneath a massive stone tome and sealing it back into its source.
With the curse lifted and sanity restored, the team emerged from the cellar. Their mysterious contact soon revealed a new ambition—to repurpose the book’s arcane properties for a global communications device aimed at bolstering the Oath Keepers.
What began as a simple courier job became a brush with forgotten lore, spectral forces, and the thin line between knowledge and danger.
