Mission: A Stranger I Remain (C2S3)

Objectives: We still don’t know who this group of terrorists are, but we have a lead on the bombs they used in Aundair. There’s only one known dragonshard mine in Khorvaire that isn’t currently controlled by a house. An old operation in Q’barra, long since abandoned as its proximity to a natural gas vein resulted in too many worker deaths. It has since been condemned as a hazard site, and nobody really checks in on it due to the danger. If they’re doing their own mining, it’ll be here, though I can’t see how.

Exercise extreme caution on this mission. Just one of these guys took out an entire team of Keepers by himself. We have no idea what they’re capable of. Find out what you can, and get out safely.

Outcome:

A Gatekeeper strike team has uncovered and destroyed a terrorist dragonshard operation in the abandoned mines of Q’barra, believed to be the source of the bombs used in Aundair.

The team infiltrated the mine under the watch of mercenaries bearing the sigil of Red Suns Security Solutions. Inside, they found grim evidence of the group’s work — preserved corpses of miners stripped of their hands, storage crates of weaponry, and a massive dragonshard bomb prepared for transport.

Rather than engage directly, the operatives set charges and fought their way out as the mine erupted behind them. Their retreat was interrupted by Mystral, a woman of Karrnathi origin marked by grotesque necromancy, who hurled a devastating barrage in pursuit. In the clash that followed, the Gatekeepers prevailed, but Mystral’s body was lost to the chasm, leaving her fate uncertain.

The mine is destroyed and the Red Suns’ stockpile lost, but the threat remains unresolved. Questions linger over the group’s true leadership and the shadowy figure known only as Sundown.

For now, the Gatekeepers return alive — but this war is far from over.
